The MLS 3 fits seamlessly into the noble series of master speakers. Like the MLS 2, the MLS 3 was developed as a line source with dipole emission characteristics. To accomplish this, however, some challenging innovations were required.
Thanks to its special, extremely compact build, the innovative Master Line Source 3 dipole emitter enables you to have a unique music listening experience in your own living room. Like its sister models, the elegant stand box is designed as a line source with dipole emitter characteristics. Four ribbon tweeters guarantee a supremely natural, detailed, spatial sound. This is enhanced by the two 180mm woofers and two same-sized passive radiators with a powerful bass foundation.
Newly developed LineSourceDriver
For the baffle with a width of only 23 centimetres, a smaller version of the ribbon for mid-range/high-frequency reproduction has been specially crafted, four units of which are installed above each another in the MLS 3. They work based on the dipole principle and at the same time directly emit the sound forwards and backwards in the form of a vertical cylindrical sound wave, whereby a slatted acoustic lens ensures product of a completely diffuse sound field behind the MLS 3.
The result is demonstrated in a line source that is impressive in its almost error-free behaviour in both amplitude and time response. The MLS 3 is additionally convincing with its unbelievably natural sound reproduction – and that with any type of music.
PERFECTED BASS
The requirements for the electrodynamic properties of the drivers were deliberately set high. The success is reflected in a completely newly developed 18cm UHQD bass driver, which provides for an incredible bandwidth, even in a small housing, and this with best impulse response and enormous level stability.
This was made possible by the optimal choice of Thiele/Small parameters and the use of modern membranes, voice coils and their carriers, as well as all moving parts of the suspension. The result is a bass range that allows, even in the small housing of the MLS 3, a completely convincing low bass response and this with the highest precision and speed. The seamless transition to the ribbon section is ensured by the excellent transient properties of the drivers.
MUSICAL FINE-TUNING
As another special feature, the MLS 3 can be put in the living room like a normal loudspeaker, even though the loudspeaker works as a dipole emitter. Depending on the distance to the rear wall, the radiated sound component can be changed in just a few hand movements. This ensures that the MLS 3 plays satisfyingly at all times. It does not matter if the distance to the rear wall is two meters or 30 centimetres. Shaped by our years of audio experience and perfected by the intensive fine-tuning of our staff, the musical tuning succeeded immaculately.
The MLS 3 is able to reproduce the tonal beauty and aesthetics of any kind of music with fantastic ease. Despite its relatively small dimensions, the MLS3 is a speaker with an enormous presence, turning music into a true audio experience.
